In the recent years, I investigated stability and stabilization of human locomotion, using a template-based approach. That is, I use minimalistic models to explain experimentally observed behavior, and perform further analysis on the models.

Currently, I'm working on the EU-Project BALANCE with the goal to build an orthosis that resembles the properties and the behavior of a healthy human leg. Here, my contribution is to use models in order to quantify how exactly humans modify their stepping patterns, and how exactly this could be transferred onto the device. In other words: I use the models as a common language for both experimental data and robotic devices.
